Alum Creek Dog Park

This weekend Travis and I went to the Alum Creek Dog Park. The website is a little outdated but it says they are revamping it and a new one will be up soon. This was the coolest dog park I have ever been to. It rained on Saturday and so Sunday we decided to get the dogs out for some socializing. A coworker told me about this park and I new it had a lake but I didn't know what to expect.

We started out in the "dry" area which is a huge fenced in grassy yard. There were about 50 dogs split between small and large sections. Our two dogs are both 50 lbs. so we have to go in the large section. Jem and Clifford ran around like crazy playing with the other dogs. Of course Cliff being the alpha got a little ticked when other dogs tried to mount Jem but he is her protector so it was not a shock. After they got tired out running around we thought we would give the lake a try.

In a separate area a couple yards away there was a large section that has a beach for the dogs to walk out into the water. Again tons of dogs diving into the water to get their balls or frisbees. Jem actually walked into the water within about 5 minutes. I was so suprised. Once she got her footing and figured out where she could walk and where she would have to swim, she very gracefully swam around in her calm nature, while the other dogs pounced all around.

Clifford was not so brave. He got in after a 1/2 hour but only when Travis would and he wouldn't stay in for long. Maybe next time. There was the cutest little dog that would bolt back and forth along the shore and into the mud. He was an instigator but in the cutest sense of the word.

We didn't bring our camera b/c we didn't know what to expect, but next time we will. For people who are going for the first time make sure you wear water shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting wet or muddy. Make sure you bring a water bowl and some water. They do have water fillup areas but they are at both ends of a 4 acre zone. If you bring toys make sure your dog is ok sharing b/c it won't stay their's for long. I would suggest bringing a towel as well.

It was a great time and costs nothing. I think it was the best day of my dog's little lives. I would highly recommend it for anyone who has dog that socialize well.

My New Job - Blue Diesel

So we arrived in Columbus about 3 weeks ago. I started my new job and all is going well. I am working at a company called Blue Diesel which is the interactive arm of a large health care marketing company called InVentiv Health.

I am a Sr. Art Director working on the Concerta account. It is kind of nice that I am on this account b/c my nephew Ryan has ADHD and therefore I know alot about this condition. We create interactive tablet presentations to assist Pharmaceutical reps to gain better attention and focus from Health Care providers. One might think that this could be really boring creatively BUT what is so great about Blue Diesel is that they can take a graph and break it up into a compelling visual story to really explain the benefits of a medication.

The company is broken up into studios which is such a cool way to work b/c it is so team oriented. Each studio has an assigned Creative Director, ACD, Designers, Copywriter, Developers, Account Team and Studio Director. The way they all work together makes everyone accountable for each project. You can tell there is a little competition between each studio but sometimes this isn't such a bad thing.

Everyone has been very nice to me. Walking up to me and introducing themselves. They all have great sense of humors and get along well. Each day I get to know them all a little more. I'm still getting acclimated and trying to learn the medical lingo and the brand so I can start taking some of the weight off of my ACD. She has way too much on her plate and hopefully I can help relieve her so she can breathe a little.

Today it is raining and we were hoping to take the dogs to a 4 acre dog park with a beach to a lake. I think it will have to wait until tomorrow.
